Liverpool 2017

The 2017 ride took place from 23rd to 25th September, going from London to Liverpool over three days.

This was the first ride where I (David Mills) picked the route, and it seemed to go OK. Despite the previous year, we still left London along the Grand Union Canal. The weather was pretty good apart from the first hour on the last day. We successfully negotiated the closed roads near Birmingham as it was the Birmingham 100 mile sportive on the Sunday. We finished on the Mersey ferry going from Birkenhead to the conference centre.

This was the first SAFEAfrica ride, after four years raising money for Lifebox. Fisher & Paykel sponsored the new jerseys and four people from the company also rode, providing youth and enthusiasm.
